CORONAVIRUS CALLS FOR IP

Victoria Sopilnyak, Partner of Doubinsky & Osharova, moderated one of the most interesting discussions during the VIII International Intellectual Property Forum (IPF-2021) - CORONAVIRUS CALLS FOR IP.

The spread of COVID-19 has significantly affected all aspects of human life, and the area of intellectual property is not an exception.

The participants of the 5th session of the forum discussed what problems the industry had faced, how the coronavirus crisis had affected IP rights in Ukraine and whether the coronavirus vaccine would become cheaper given the restrictions on the IP rights.

The discussion focused on the following issues:

  • Intellectual property: the accessibility of treatment of the future
  • The view of the national pharmaceutical company: how the field of intellectual property contributes to prevent the spread of COVID-19
  • Consequences of waiver of patent rights
